On podcast #22 I talked about tips and suggestions of sucessful portrait shoots.

I am at my studio right now waiting for a model show up for a portrait shoot. I'll report back how many of my own suggestions I actually used, if they worked and what other suggestions I thought of while shooting. I'll also report on what didn't work for me.

Very Cool Webpage

ShutterAperture.jpg
I found this page today that is really helpful in demonstrating the effects of different shutter speed and aperture settings on an exposure. Play with the settings and see the effects on both exposure and depth of field. This might be one of the most usefull tools I've found to explain the relationships between shutter speed, aperture, depth of field and exposure because you can try them all till you get something that works for you.

Podcast #23 Show Notes - Zoomify

Podcast number 23 is the very first video podcast I've done.

I realize that a lot of people, myself included, listen to podcasts in the car or at work and can't really stop to watch a podcast. So the audio podcast will continue to be the regular format the podcast will be delivered in but with the ocassional video podcast thrown in as an extra when I come across a topic that is better suited for video than audio (like software demos).

So please let me know what you think about the video podcast and if you have an apple TV box please let me know how it looks full screen on your living room TV.

The webpage where I uplaoded the Zoomify sample is http://www.allenrockwellphoto.com/Site/zoomify/

Apple Updates Aperture to 1.5.3

Aperture 1.5.3 addresses issues related to overall reliability and performance in a number of areas, including:

Generation of thumbnails for adjusted images
Entering and exiting Full Screen mode
Working with large sets of keywords in the Keywords HUD
Restoring from a vault
Among the specific issues that have been addressed:
Previews now update properly when images are sent to an external editor.
Leaf Aptus 22 and Aptus 75 images are now imported with the correct orientation.
When folders are imported as projects, the folder structure is now correctly preserved when identically named subfolders are included in the hierarchy.
Reconnecting referenced images that have been externally edited now works more reliably.
Setting the ColorSync profile in the Aperture Print dialog now correctly suppresses color management settings in the Mac OS X Print dialog.

Apple iPhone delays shipment of Leopard

Apple Statement (From www.apple.com/hotnews

iPhone has already passed several of its required certification tests and is on schedule to ship in late June as planned. We can’t wait until customers get their hands (and fingers) on it and experience what a revolutionary and magical product it is. However, iPhone contains the most sophisticated software ever shipped on a mobile device, and finishing it on time has not come without a price — we had to borrow some key software engineering and QA resources from our Mac OS X team, and as a result we will not be able to release Leopard at our Worldwide Developers Conference in early June as planned. While Leopard's features will be complete by then, we cannot deliver the quality release that we and our customers expect from us. We now plan to show our developers a near final version of Leopard at the conference, give them a beta copy to take home so they can do their final testing, and ship Leopard in October. We think it will be well worth the wait. Life often presents tradeoffs, and in this case we're sure we've made the right ones.

I'm pretty sure this will also delay iLife 07 and iWork 07 as they are both very closely tied into OSX 10.5 Leopard.
