Do you have insurance?

Good Morning, originally uploaded by Allen Rockwell.

Is your photography gear insured? Is it covered by your homeowners policy? Don't be an idiot like me and wait till it's to late to find out.

Photographer or Terrorist?

Great article on BBC's website regarding photographers being treated as criminals by authorities that are paranoid about terrorism and child predators.

This is getting crazy. The authorities are going after law abiding citizens out trying to have a good time with their hobby when they should be concerned with real criminals. The shameful part is that these authorities do not even know the law in relation to photography, so not only are they harassing good people but they are harassing them for doing something legal.

If you have a family member, friend or acquaintance that is in the law enforcement or security business or in the military please do your part and educate them on the rights of photographers. Someday you'll be glad you did.

Photo Location Scouting Tool?

What do you think of the new Google Earth 4.3 as a location scouting tool?. If you are about to visit a major city in the near future you can go there virtually now and get a pretty good idea of how things look like from various vantage points.

In this clip I fly in to Union Square and land in front of the Westin St. Francis, then I buzz over to the baseball stadium and off to Pioneer Park and the Coit Tower.

Flickr Finds....

_DSC0085, originally uploaded by Curtis Childress.

I spend a lot of time on flickr just looking at other peoples photos. some inspire me, some teach me and some clearly show me what not to do.
One thing always impresses me is when I find a young person going out shooting and trying new things ... sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, but that's not the point, the point is that they are trying new things and expanding their creativity and I applaud them for that.

Get out and try new stuff ... much of it won't work but when something does work you have that amazing feeling of creating something new.

Why does the world think we are stupid?

This has nothing to do with photography, I just think it's funny .... and true at the same time.
